Contribute
I'm collecting discarded pencil sharpenings from schools, art departments, studios and individuals to use in a new body of large-scale art works.
If you'd like to contribute, I'd be incredibly grateful. Please get in touch and I'll arrange the best way to receive your pencil sharpenings.
What I'm collecting
✓ Coloured pencil sharpenings (including the associated sharpening waste like the pencil dust and fragments)
✓ Graphite pencil sharpenings (please keep them separate from coloured sharpenings)
Please don't include
✗ Pencil stubs
✗ Eraser rubbings
✗ General rubbish
✗ Sharpener waste mixed with food or liquids
How to send them
If you're collecting a small amount, place the sharpenings in a sealed bag before posting.
If you're a school or art department collecting larger quantities, please get in touch and I'll arrange collection where possible.
Why pencil sharpenings?
I've been fascinated by their colour, texture and form for years. This project explores their potential as a material for creating large-scale three-dimensional wall works.
Every contribution, however small, becomes part of that process.
